Old Town Alexandria

Rock It Grill

Where it all began! A classic neighborhood bar with great chicken tenders and karaoke offered every night, Neil and Elizabeth met outside thanks to a most fortuitous bar crawl organized by mutual friend Emily Flores.

Gadsby's Tavern Museum

138 N. Royal Street, Alexandria, VA 22314

​

A historic tavern museum frequented by many notable Founding Fathers, it also features a small restaurant portion (reservations recommended).

​

The Alexandria Waterfront

​

Starting at Prince Street and extending northward, the waterfront area offers beautiful views of the Potomac. Stroll along and explore Waterfront Park and Founders Park, various shops, and the Torpedo Factory Art Center (free admission).

Georgetown

Saxby's

Neil and Elizabeth’s pre-Pre-Cana go-to coffee shop, Saxby’s is conveniently located just a block from Holy Trinity.

​

The Tombs

​

Beloved by Georgetown students (like Elizabeth’s mom!), The Tombs is a fun stop for dinner.

Martin's Tavern

​

Supposedly where John F. Kennedy proposed to Jackie, this historic DC location is great to stop in for a drink or meal (reservations recommended).

​

DC Arts & Exploration

The Kennedy Center

2700 F Street, NW Washington, DC 20566

A quick ride away (free shuttle buses run to and from Foggy Bottom-GWU metro station daily), this home of the arts is beautiful to walk about and the terrace level offers great views of the city. You can also catch free performances every night at 6PM on the Millennium Stage.

Smithsonian National Gallery of Art

Constitution Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20565, between 3rd and 9th Streets

​

Free admission (true for all Smithsonian museums), the National Gallery hosts a variety of exhibitions where everyone can find an era, style, or school of art to get lost in.

​

Union Station

50 Massachusetts Avenue NE, Washington, DC 20002

​

In addition to being a metro and amtrak hub with a number of shops and eateries, Union Station is an iconic example of Beaux-Arts architecture.

​

Further Away - Public Transportation Limited, Vehicle Recommended

Udvar-Hazy Center - Located near Dulles airport, this companion facility of the Smithsonian National Air & Space Museum houses a world-class collection of aircraft and spacecraft that you can get up close to!

​

Fort Ward - Part of the Civil War defenses of Washington, the site features a lovely walking path and a little museum with an impressive variety of artifacts!

​

Glen Echo Park - A repurposed amusement park with art workshops and frequent dances!

​

Mount Vernon - George & Martha’s home and Neil & Elizabeth’s first date!
